DCA (sodium dichloroacetate) Questions

DCA Questions

Where can I buy DCA?

DCA, as well as other products can be purchased through the PetDCA store.

We accept most major credit cards.

What is DCA?

DCA, also known as Sodium Dichloroacetate (or NaDCA) is a simple molecule that is an effective tool for fighting various forms of cancers in humans and animals.  Some research has reported tumor mass and size reduction by 70% in just three weeks!  Read What Is DCA? for more information.

How Long Will He/She Need To Take DCA?

The length of treatment will vary from pet to pet, even if they have the same type of cancer.

Many pet owners describe seeing noticeable improvements in health in as little as 3 to 6 weeks.  We’ve also had some pet owners tell us that their pet has been cancer free in as little as 6 months.

These results are not guaranteed and are not seen by every pet owner.  Length of treatment will depend on many variables such as type of cancer, stage of cancer, aggressiveness of cancer, health and age of pet, etc.

Unfortunately there is no accurate way to estimate how long your pet will be taking DCA and many pet owners continue to give them DCA (in lower dosages as a preventative) for the remainder of their life.

Calculating Dosage

How do I calculate the correct dosage?

Calculating the correct dosage of DCA for your pet can be quick and easy if you follow these instructions.  Check out the Calculating Dosage page of this website for more information.

How do I use the scale to measure DCA?

Using a weight scale is the most effective way to measure the amount of DCA you need for your pet.  Check out this video for instructions on how to use your scale to measure your DCA treatment dosage.  Go to the PetDCA Scale page for more information.

Side Effects

Does DCA interact with other medications?

Negative interactions between DCA and other drugs or medications are rare, and with animals are even more rare.  Doctors have noticed that drugs which cause disorientation or hallucinations may interact with DCA, such as cannaboids, benzodiasepines, or other medicines that influence the central nervous system.

Are there any side effects to DCA?

A common question asked is “Are there any side effects of using DCA?

Yes there can be but they are rare and can easily be prevented.  The most commonly reported side effect of using DCA is reversible damage to peripheral nerves.

What does this mean?

What does “reversible damage to peripheral nerves” mean?

Symptoms of peripheral nerve damage include trembling of fingers and toes, which is called Neuropathy.  Doctors stress that this damage is temporary and is reversible.  Damage to the nerves in the hands and feet (or paws) usually takes several weeks to develop and can be reversed when detected early.  In order to prevent or avoid peripheral neuropathy, a dietary supplement of Thiamine B1 can be administered.

Other possible temporary side effects may include:

  • vertigo
  • depression
  • fatigue
  • weakness
  • increased urination
  • nausea
  • anxiety

If these side effects are observed, they can easily be controlled by lowering the dosage of DCA or skipping a few days altogether.

Most of the reported side effects from human patients were mild or moderate intensification.
